Rajecki Wins Singles Title at Fall Ranked Spotlight

CARY, N.C. – NC State women’s tennis saw success across the board in this past weekend’s College Fall Ranked Spotlight, highlighted by Amelia Rajecki, who won the A2 singles draw with a perfect 5-0 weekend that included taking down the top seeds in the draw. The team played a total of 24 matches combined between singles and doubles, winning 14 out of the possible 19 matches in singles and going 3-2 in overall doubles.

Rajecki went unbeaten this past weekend, including taking down 106th-ranked Laylo Bakhodirova and 125th-ranked Julia Fliegner. Alana Smith made her first full tournament return to collegiate action at the Fall Ranked Spotlight, winning four of her five singles matches. Smith defeated four ranked opponents – No. 22 Carmen Corley, No. 51 Sydni Ratliff, No. 91 Carolyn Ansari and No. 116 Malkia Ngounoue.

Juniors Abigail Rencheli and Sophie Abrams also put together solid weekend appearances, with Rencheli going 2-2 in singles matches and defeating two ranked opponents. Abrams also found success this past weekend, going 3-2 in singles matches. Both Rencheli and Abrams dropped their first two matches on Friday but bounced back to win out the rest of the weekend.
