Purdue Puts Up Tough Fight on Senior Day vs. Minnesota


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Finishing the regular season at home, the Purdue women’s tennis team put up a tough fight against Minnesota, but fell 4-1.

Purdue honored seniors Nathalia Wolf Gasparin and Seira Shimizu prior to the beginning of the match for their continued dedication to the tennis program over the years.Β 

Minnesota took the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and 3 before play was halted. Nathalia Wolf Gasparin and Csilla Fodor stayed close to their opponent in attempt to give Purdue an edge.Β 

Freshman Carmen Gallardo Guevara spoke early in her singles matches and overtook her opponent, Emilee Duong at No. 2, 6-4, 7-4 to give the Boilers their first singles point.

Three singles matches at No. 1, 4 and 5 were forced into third set tiebreakers to determine a victor of the match, resulting in a clinch by Minnesota.

Purdue will travel to Iowa City to begin Big Ten Tournament play this week.
