NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In the opening round of the NCAA Regional on Saturday, the 31st-ranked Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete against Wake Forest, ranked 38th.

The Dores last competed in Athens, Georgia, at the SEC Tournament. After defeating Ole Miss in the first round, they fell to Texas A&M in the quarter-finals. In the most recent ITA rankings, Vanderbilt has two ranked singles players: Celia-Belle Mohr at No. 13 and Bridget Stammel at No. 74. Mohr with partners Anessa Lee and Holly Staff hold doubles rankings of 33 and 53, respectively.

Last year in Columbus the Commodores advanced to the regional finals, defeating East Tennessee State 4-0 and then falling to No. 10 Ohio State, 4-2.

Wake Forest has posted a 15-13 record, going 6-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Demon Deacons last competed at the ACC Championship and fell in the first round to the No. 8 seed, Duke. They boast one student-athlete ranked nationally for singles and a doubles pair featuring former Vandy tennis alum Marcella Cruz.
