OJAI, Calif. – Oregon men’s tennis fell just short in the Pac-12 Tournament today, dropping the first-round match to Washington 4-2. The doubles point proved to be the demise for the Ducks, as the unfinished singles match looked to be going the way of Oregon.
How it Happened: Oregon’s No.1 doubles team of Joshua Charlton and Quinn Vandecasteele held a 5-4 lead when the point was secured for Washington. Ivailo Keremedchiev and Jesper Klov-Nilsson fell 6-3, and Youssef Kadiri and Luke Vandecasteele lost 6-2, giving UW a 1-0 advantage.
The Ducks stormed back to take a 2-1 lead after wins from Keremedchiev (6-3, 6-4) and Q. Vandecasteele (3-6, 6-2, 6-4).
