CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis concluded the season ranked fourth in the ITA Southeast Region year-end rankings, as announced Friday.
The Hurricanes placed fourth in the final regional rankings for the second straight season and third time under head coach Aljosa Piric. As a team, Miami finished the season at No. 50 in the ITA national rankings.
Graduate student Dan Martin and sophomore Martin Katz each appeared in the final ITA Southeast Region singles rankings, checking in at fifth and No. 15, respectively. Martin’s fifth-place finish is the highest by a Hurricane in the year-end regional rankings since Daniel Vallverdu placed third in 2008.
Two Miami doubles teams finished among the top 10 duos in the Southeast Region as the pair of Martin and fifth-year senior Franco Aubone checked in at eighth, while the tandem of fifth-year senior Juan Martin Jalif and freshman Martin Vergara Del Puerto followed at ninth.
Miami is one of three schools to put a pair of doubles teams in the final ITA Southeast Region doubles rankings.
