Men’s Tennis Opens SEC Play Against No.12 Aggies


The Aggies are just one of 11 ranked opponents Florida will face during the SEC slate.

 

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators Men’s Tennis returns to action in Linder Stadium at Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex on Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m. against No. 12 Texas A&M. The match is slated for 5 p.m. and marks the start of Southeastern Conference play, where 11 conference teams are ranked in ITA’s top 75 teams.
 
Florida boasts 11 SEC regular season titles, as well as six SEC Tournament championships since the event began in 1990. The Gators most recently claimed each in 2022 after a perfect 12-0 regular season and 3-0 tournament run
 
On Texas A&M

The No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies enter Friday’s match with a 9-2 record.
 
The Aggies hold an 11-8 edge over the Gators in the all-time record. The two most recently met last April in College Station, Texas, with the Aggies claiming victory, 4-3.
 
The 2024 Aggies squad starts a lineup that features four upperclassmen who are ranked in singles play, including the reigning SEC Player of the week, No. 69 Raphael Perot.
 
Last time out
The Gators’ last contest was a 6-1 rout of then-undefeated Central Florida, where the Gators claimed their second-consecutive doubles point to head into singles play with an 1-0 lead. The Orange and Blue showcased their superior depth by claiming courts 2-6 in singles.
