No. 10 Cal Falls In Super Regional At No. 7 Georgia


ATHENS, Ga. – The season came to an end for the No. 10 California women’s tennis team in a 4-2 loss at No. 7 Georgia in the NCAA Super Regionals on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The match ended when the 49th-ranked Katja Wiersholm fell to the Bulldogs’ 65th-ranked Mell Reasco 7-5, 6-4.
 
Jessica Alsola beat Anastasiia Lopata 6-1, 7-5 and Berta Passola Folch won 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 over Mai Nirundorn for the Golden Bears
 
Cal closed the season with a 20-7 record while Georgia improved to 23-4. The Bulldogs advance to next week’s NCAA quarterfinals.
 
Despite the conclusion of the team portion of the season for Cal, four Bears – Valentina Ivanov, Hannah Viller Moeller, Mao Mushika and Katja Wiersholm – will compete in the NCAA individual tournaments from May 20-25 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
