UNIVERSITY PARK. Pa. – The Penn State men’s tennis team is set to host its last home matches of the season this weekend. The Blue and White will welcome No. 35 Michigan (12-10 (6-0)) on Friday, Apr. 12 at 4 p.m. and No. 18 Michigan State (20-3 (6-0)) for Senior Day on Sunday, Apr. 14 at 1 p.m. Both matches will be held at the Indoor Tennis Center, but if weather permits, the matches will be hosted at the Sarni Tennis Center.
On Sunday, Penn State will honor seniors Sam Bossem and Miko Eala.
Eala stayed national ranked at No. 102 this week and has 14 singles wins this season. Freshman Nolan Ranger follows with 10 wins, and sophomore Stefan Simeunovic holds eight wins. Eala and Simeunovic both carry six doubles wins this season, and freshman Jack Martuccio follows with five.
PREVIEWING MICHIGAN
The Wolverines enter Happy Valley with a national ranking at No. 35 and a 12-10 (6-0) record. Michigan holds one ranked singles player, #17 Gavin Young, and one ranked doubles duo, #24 Jacob Bickersteth and Gavin Young, on their roster.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
Michigan State comes into town nationally ranked at No.18 and a 20-3 (6-0) record. The Spartans hold three ranked singles players, #14 Ozan Baris, #43 Ronnie Hohmann and #112 Graydon Lair, and three ranked doubles duos, #6 Max Sheldon and Ozan Baris, #61 Ronnie Hohmann and Sebastian Collard, and #71 Ozan Baris and Ronnie Hohmann. The Spartans will play at Ohio State Saturday before traveling to University Park.
UP NEXT
Following the last home matches this weekend, the Nittany Lions will hit the road to close out the regular season. The squad will face Wisconsin on Friday, Apr. 19 at 4 p.m. in Madison, Wisc., then close out the weekend on Sunday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. against Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb.
