Luescher to Represent Switzerland at Master’U


EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon junior Sophie Luescher has been selected as one of three women to represent Switzerland at the 16th annual Master’U BMP Paribas, or the World University Tennis Event, in Honfleur, France, from Dec. 1-4.
 
The prestigious event takes place every two years with eight national teams invited: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and United States. Each team is made of up three men and three women, with each matchup being a best-of-seven of two women’s singles, two men’s singles, one women’s doubles, one men’s doubles and one mixed doubles.

Luescher, a native of Seengen, Switzerland, has played at the No. 1 singles and doubles position for the Ducks in her first two spring seasons. She turned in a team-best singles record this fall of 8-2 to pair with a 7-3 fall doubles record. Luescher and doubles partner Uxia Martinez Moral entered the fall campaign ranked as the nation’s 56th-best doubles tandem in the ITA rankings.
