Kotzen and Mitsui Compete in First Day of Main Draw at ITA All-American Championships


TULSA, Okla. – Tennessee men’s tennis representatives Alex Kotzen and Shunsuke Mitsui opened up main draw singles play at the 2024 ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
 
In the singles round of 64, No. 10 Mitsui dropped a three-set match to Matthew Forbes of Michigan State, 6-2, 3-6, 3-6. The senior will go up against No. 27 Pablo Alemany of Memphis on Thursday in the consolation bracket.
 
No. 34 Kotzen faced No. 39 Lui Maxted from TCU in the first round, losing 6-7 (1), 1-6. The New York native is set to face the top-ranked player in the country from Michigan State, Ozan Baris, in the consolation bracket on Thursday.
