SEATTLE – A pair of Huskies each broke into the top-100 of the ITA national singles rankings this week, and the Dawgs remained No. 26 in the team rankings, as the rankings made the annual transition from voting to a mathematical formula. Jennifer Kerr and Hikaru Sato checked in at No. 93 and No. 100, respectively.
The individual rankings got their first update since the conclusion of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, where Sato and Kerr each had big wins over top-40 opponents to help move them into the rankings.
Kerr, the transfer from Columbia, has been playing No. 4 singles, but she had a win over then-No. 27 Bridget Stammel of Vanderbilt and has gone 6-1 in dual play. Sato, at No. 1 singles, defeated 34th-ranked Celia-Belle Mohr of Vanderbilt and is now 5-4 this season at the No. 1 spot.
The Huskies (6-3) get back to action this Friday at 37th-ranked Baylor for a 3 p.m. Pacific time match, moved up an hour from the originally scheduled time. Washington’s Saturday match against San Diego has been canceled.
