ITA All-Americans: First Appearance in Four Years


CARY, N.C. –  Midori Castillo and Reece Carter represented Arizona at the ITA All-American Championships in the pre-qualifying singles draw. Their appearance marked the program’s return to the tournament since Emma Wilson competed in 2018. It was Castillo and Carter’s first time ever at the tournament where they battled for a spot in the main draw. 

Castillo won her initial match in straight sets against Sophie Zehender (Wyoming) 6-4, 6-2 advancing to the PQ round of 64 in which she fell to 11-seeded and No. 124 Sofiya Chekhlystova (Penn State). Carter made her Wildcat debut at the tournament where she fell to 13-seeded Annabelle Xu (Virginia). 

Women’s Tennis heads to the Golden State for two tournaments: San Diego Veterans Classic and Women of Troy Tournament in Los Angeles.
