SEATTLE – Jim Hendrikx moved a win away from advancing to Super Regionals today, as did the doubles tandem of Nedim Suko and Brett Pearson, in day two of ITA Northwest Regionals at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
Hendrikx beat Nikolas Tvedt of Portland in the Regionals Round of 16 by a 6-1, 6-2 score. He’ll face top-seed Ray Lo of Oregon on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. The winner earns one of four spots to the ITA Northwest Super Regionals in two weeks at Stanford.
Two more Dawgs fell in the round of 16 in singles, as Nedim Suko lost to Portland’s Maxim Groysman, and Brett Pearson came up short against Oregon’s Matthew Burton.
Pearson and Suko fought back with two wins in doubles to get one win away from a Super Regionals spot. They first beat Portland State’s Elliott/Jovanovich, 8-6, and then had an 8-4 win over Seattle U duo Kiselkov/Sasagawa.
Pearson and Suko will next play Roider/Gomez Galvan of Gonzaga on Sunday after the singles quarterfinals are done.
