Four Teams Advance at 2024 ACC Men's Tennis Championship


CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson, Florida State, Georgia Tech and North Carolina all advanced to the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Championship after each posted wins on Thursday at the Cary Tennis Park.

No. 5 seed North Carolina blanked No. 12 seed Miami, 4-0, in the first match of the day, while No. 9 seed Clemson topped No. 8 seed Notre Dame with a 4-1 victory. The win for UNC marked the Tar Heels’ eighth shutout win of the season, including their fifth against ACC opposition. Clemson will make the trip to the quarterfinals for the second time in three years in the same fashion, previously upsetting No. 5 Duke as the 12-seed in 2022 in Rome, Georgia.

No. 7 seed Georgia Tech shut out No. 10 seed Louisville, 4-0, while No. 6 seed Florida State outlasted No. 11 seed Virginia Tech, 4-1. The Seminoles recorded their fourth-straight win over the Hokies.

The top four seeds in No. 1 Virginia, No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 NC State and No. 4 Duke all picked up double byes into the Friday quarterfinals.

The quarterfinal round starts at 10 a.m. on Friday with top-seeded Virginia facing off with No. 9 Clemson and No. 4 Duke battling No. 5 North Carolina. The 12:30 p.m. quarterfinals feature No. 2 Wake Forest playing No. 7 Georgia Tech and No. 3 NC State battling No. 6 Florida State.

The semifinals will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the championship match slated for 10 a.m. Sunday.
