Jin Earns Bid to 2024 NCAA Singles Tournament

The Florida freshman will compete for the singles title in Stillwater, Okla., and Florida’s top doubles duo of Nate Bonetto/Aidan Kim are named alternates for the doubles bracket.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Freshman Jeremy Jin has been selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Singles Tournament. Jin is currently ITA’s No. 52-ranked singles player, and was recently named to the All-SEC second team as well as the SEC All-Freshman team. Jin received an at-large bid, and was selected by the NCAA committee.

Jin slotted into the court one singles position for Florida for all 14 of the Gators’ matches against SEC opponents this season. Jin started his dual season hot, holding a 6-1 record in singles matches after the opening weekend of conference play. Jin collected five ranked wins in his first dual season, the highest of which came on March 17, when Jin defeated then-No. 46 Filip Planinsek of Alabama.

Aidan Kim/Nate Bonetto, Florida’s top doubles tandem this dual season, was selected as an alternate for the 2024 NCAA Men’s Tennis Doubles Tournament. The pairing claimed four ranked winning sets in doubles this dual season. The duo is currently ranked as the No. 26 doubles tandem in the nation.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 20-25 at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 16-19. Oklahoma State University serves as host.

NCAA Tournament History
Florida has five individual national titles in program history, including one doubles title and four singles champions. Florida’s Doubles tandem of Mark Merklein and David Blair claimed Florida’s first individual national title by winning the doubles tournament in 1993. Merklein backed that performance up in 1994 by claiming Florida’s first ever NCAA singles title. Jeff Morrison claimed another individual title for the Gators in 1999, when he won 11 consecutive sets en route to the singles title. Florida most recently had back-to-back singles chapions when Sam Riffice in 2021 and Ben Shelton in 2022 took home the hardware for Florida.
