TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team looks to continue its hot start to the 2023 season in a home matchup against North Florida.
The Seminoles are 4-1, including a perfect 3-0 at home, this season.
Junior Ellie Schoppe has had quite an impressive start to the 2023 spring season. Schoppe goes into this weekend’s matchup with a 4-0 singles record and a 3-0 doubles record with senior Kianah Motosono.
Schoppe and Motosono were able to capture a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against 7th-ranked Stanford, and the duo currently has a six-match win streak stretching back to the fall season.
Redshirt sophomore Alice Amendola heads into this matchup with a 2-0 singles record and a 2-0 doubles record. Amendola was ahead 6-2, 5-4 at No. 6 singles against Stanford before the team winner was decided and the match ended.
Junior Anna Arkadianou is ranked 52nd in the national singles rankings and has played at the No. 1 spot in every match she has appeared this season.
North Florida comes into this weekend’s matchup with a 4-1 record after defeating Charleston Southern 5-2 last Sunday. UNF is led by seniors Kitt Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilio, who are currently 5-0 in doubles in the 2023 spring season.
Sunday’s match begins at noon. Admission to matches at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center is free. Live stats will be available on Seminoles.com.
