DURHAM – For the second consecutive season and for the eighth time under the direction of head coach Ramsey Smith, Duke men’s tennis finished with a top-15 national ranking in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate Tennis poll.
The Blue Devils earned the No. 14 spot after advancing to the NCAA Super Regional round for the second-straight season.
This past season, Duke secured its eighth 20-win season, posted nine ACC victories, made an appearance in the ACC semifinals and recorded its 13th showing in the NCAA tournament in the past 16 years. Of the 21 nationally ranked foes faced in 2024, the Blue Devils finished with a 13-8 (.619) ledger with six of those 13 wins coming during a season-high six-match winning-streak, including three over top-25 competition. Additionally, the Blue Devils went 4-1 against regional teams in North Carolina, NC State, and Wake Forest.
Duke finished with four individuals with double-digit dual singles wins and three pairs with seven-plus dual doubles victories. Redshirt senior Garrett Johns and sophomore Pedro Rodenas held a No. 21 and No. 43 singles ranking, respectively, while earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Individual Championship. Additionally, Johns and Rodenas also teamed up in doubles play this season and were the lone Blue Devil pairing to receive postseason doubles recognition from the ACC. The duo held a top-20 ranking for much of the season, including a current ranking of No. 1 nationally.
TCU, the 2024 National Champions, garnered the top spot, followed by Texas, Ohio State, Virginia and Kentucky closing out the top-five.
