CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s tennis team is slated to compete at two tournaments starting this weekend, with one group traveling to East Lansing, Mich., for the Drobac/Beeman Invite hosted by Michigan State, and the other headed to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa.
Head coach Brad Dancer will head to MSU with Tyler Bowers, Mathis Debru, Kenta Miyoshi and Lucas Horve, while assistant coach Tim Kopinski will travel with Oliver Okonkwo, Hunter Heck, Nic Meister, and Alex Petrov to the Sooner State.

The competition at the Drobac/Beeman Invite will pit the Illini against Toledo, Michigan, Iowa, West Michigan and Northwestern. Friday will start with doubles play at 9 a.m. The rest of the schedule will be announced the day before each match.
In Oklahoma, the Illini foursome will look to survive and advance through the bracket that will begin with more than 500 collegiate tennis players from as many as 100 schools. Each of the Illini is set to compete individually, while Okonkwo and Petrov will also pair up as doubles partners. The trio of Okonkwo, Meister, and Petrov, open singles play in pre-qualifying, while Heck begins in the main draw.
Draw schedules will be announced prior to each day of competition. Pre-qualifying is set for Oct. 1-2, followed by qualifying, Oct. 3-4, and the main draw, Oct. 5-9.
