SEATTLE – The program-best run from Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn at the ITA National Fall Championships came to an end today in the semifinals, as the Huskies lost to the nation’s second-ranked duo from Michigan State.
Bouchelaghem and Zharyn were the first UW pair to advance to the final four of the major championship. Clement Chidekh made the singles semifinals two years ago.
The Spartan pair of Baris/Sheldon advanced to the finals, winning the first set in a tiebreak, 7-4, and then breaking serve to open the second set. The Dawgs couldn’t get the break back and fell by the final of 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Washington has one more tournament on its fall calendar, the Big 12/Pac-12 Invitational in Stillwater, Okla. next weekend.
