Davis Cup: Joe Salisbury replaces Dan Evans in Great Britain team v Serbia

Joe Salisbury has replaced Dan Evans in Great Britain’s Davis Cup team for the knockout phase in Malaga next week.

British number two Evans, 33, withdrew from the team with a calf injury after limping off court at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna last month.

Doubles specialist Salisbury won his third consecutive US Open title with Rajeev Ram in September.

Cameron Norrie, Andy Murray, Jack Draper and Neal Skupski are also in the GB team.

Britain face Serbia – led by 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic – in the quarter-finals on 23 November.

Salisbury has a record of two wins and four defeats from six Davis Cup ties.

Evans was instrumental in helping Britain qualify for the quarter-finals when he and Skupski saved four match points before winning the deciding doubles tie against France at the round-robin event in Manchester in September.

Britain’s Davis Cup ties will be shown live on the BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport website and app.

The other quarter-finals will be played between 21 and 26 November.
