Cougars Split Doubles Matches at All-American Championships


CARY, N.C. – The Washington State Tennis doubles team of Eva Alvarez Sande and Elyse Tse captured its first-round match at the 2023 ITA All-American Championships Monday at the Cary Tennis Park.
 
Playing in the opening round of the qualifying draw, Alvarez Sande and Tse, who entered as the top seed, posted an 8-6 victory over the Syracuse duo of Maria Ines Fonte and Miyuka Kimoto. In the second round, the Cougar pair came up against a familiar opponent in Stanford’s Connie Ma and Alexandra Yepifanova. The Cardinal duo rode a pair of service breaks to the 8-4 victory, ending the Cougars’ run at the All-American Championships.
 
WSU is next in action Friday when is competes at the Oregon Fall Tournament in Eugene.
