History – Arizona and Penn don’t share a long history as they’ve only faced each other two other times ahead of tomorrow’s matchup. In their first meeting ever, the Wildcats lost 3-4 on their home turf to the Ivy League team in 2005. Then the ‘Cats evened out the overall series with the Quakers after defeating them 6-1 in 2009. Now 14 years later, Arizona aims to extend their series lead one match further.
ITA Ranks – In the latest ITA polls, the ‘Cats fell 17 spots in the rankings from #43 to #60 after suffering their first Pac-12 loss against #51 Oregon on March, 4 (1-4). Penn claimed their first spot in the ITA Top 75 at #51 on March 1, but have since dropped from the list.
Looking Ahead – The Wildcats host a doubleheader at home on Tuesday, March 14 before continuing Pac-12 play. Arizona faces off against #28 Illinois at 10 a.m. MT for the second time this season after previously falling 3-4 to them in the Blue Gray Classic. Then they take on New Mexico State at 5 p.m.
