Cats Are Coast to Coast

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona breaks into their second and third tournaments of the fall season. Head coach Clancy Shields accompanies No. 32 Jonas Ziverts and No. 86 Colton Smith in San Francisco for Battle in the Bay.

This marks the second appearance in the northern California tournament for both Smith and Ziverts, who was ranked No. 32 this time last year. The fifth year captain comes out as the highest ranked Wildcat in the preseason for the second year in a row.

The Cats begin in doubles competition against third-seeded Lui Maxted and Pedro Vives Marcos of Texas Christian University.

In the round of 32, sophomore Smith battles Lucas Magnaudet of California, Berkeley at 11 a.m. Seventh-seeded Ziverts will compete against Carl Emil Overbeck, another Golden Bear.

The rest of the Wildcats are on the East coast in Boston for Chowderfest, a hidden dual tournament. Arizona will compete against Texas A&M, Memphis and Harvard.

The matches begin on Friday, Sept. 23.
