BERKELEY – The 59th-ranked California men’s tennis team returns to Pac-12 Conference play on Friday at No. 7 Arizona and closes out its trip to the Grand Canyon State on Sunday at No. 17 Arizona State.

Cal won its third consecutive dual match March 20 at the California Tennis Club as also for a third straight time Lucas Magnaudet clinched a Golden Bear victory, with the Bears beating San Francisco, 4-0. Magnaudet paired with Timofey Stepanov to clinch the doubles point against the Dons.
 
In doubles, Cal’s Alex Aney and Qian Sun won on court three, 6-4, over Moritz Hoffmann and Paul Theate, and then Magnaudet and Stepanov won, 6-4, on court two over Roman Lafond and Asaf Friedler to clinch the point. Stepanov bested Giovanni Branchetti, 6-2, 6-2, on court three to give Cal a 2-0 lead and then Carl Emil Overbeck followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hoffmann on court one to make the score 3-0. Magnaudet prevailed over Lafond, 6-1, 6-1, on court six to complete Cal’s win over the Dons.
 
Last Time Vs. Arizona Teams
Cal split with the Arizona schools last year in Berkeley, with the Bears – ranked 33rd – beating No. 39 Arizona State, 4-2, and then coming up short against Arizona, 4-3.
 
Against the Sun Devils on March 17, Carl Emil Overbeck rallied to win a three-setter – over Constantinos Koshis, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-1 – and lead Cal to the victory in the Pac-12 opener. Cal also picked up the doubles point for the ninth time in 10 doubles outings, with the 54th-ranked Ryder Jackson and Lucas Magnaudet beating Roi Ginat and Murphy Cassone, 6-4, to clinch on court two.
