TUSCON, Ariz. – The Colorado Buffaloes Tennis team fell to No. 51 Arizona 4-1 here on Saturday afternoon at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
The Buffs fall to 11-10 and 2-7 in conference play after dropping the doubles point for the sixth consecutive match.
How it Happened
- Arizona got the afternoon started at No. 3 doubles where Midori Castillo-Meza and Belen Nevenhoven defeated Ellen Puzak and Betina Tokac 6-3.
- The Wildcats quickly pounced and took the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles from Reece Carter and Salma Ziouti over Mila Stanojevic and Elys Ventura.
- No. 1 doubles remained unfinished between Colorado’s Antonia Balzert and Aya El Sayed and Arizona’s Parker Fry and Kayla Wilkins at a score of 3-3.
- When singles action began Arizona got off to another hot start behind a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles from Tanvi Narendran over Carri Hayes.
- The Buffs answered back with a win at No. 3 singles from Mila Stanojevic over Kayla Wilkins 6-1, 6-1 to give Colorado it’s lone win of the afternoon.
- Reece Carter extended the lead for the Wildcats at No. 2 singles defeating Elys Ventura 6-2, 6-1.
- Arizona closed out the match at No.1 singles with a 6-1, 7-5 victory from Salma Ziouti over Antonia Balzert.
- Aya El Sayed was on pace for another victory at No. 4 singles over Midori Castillo-Meza when the match was called in the second set. El Sayed won the first set 6-4 and was in a tight 4-5 second set.
- At No. 5 singles between Colorado’s Betina Tokac and Arizona’s Parker Fry was unfinished in the second set.

The Buffs return home for their final match of the regular season April 21 against Utah at 1:30 p.m. MST. We will be celebrating Senior Antonia Balzert in her final home match at Colorado.
