Blue Devils Win Third Straight; Defeat No. 46 Clemson, 4-0

DURHAM – The 21st-ranked Duke women’s tennis team collected its third straight victory on Friday afternoon at Ambler Tennis Stadium as the Blue Devils registered their quickest win of the season in under two hours with a 4-0 sweep over 46th-ranked Clemson. 
 
Duke was able to get off the doubles court in just 22 minutes by taking the doubles point and earned singles wins by Emma Jackson, Brianna Shvets and Shavit Kimchi to clinch the victory. 
 
How It Happened

  • The Blue Devils jumped out to a hot start in doubles holding leads on all three courts.
  • In only 21 minutes on court three, the Duke tandem of Brianna Shvets and Iuliia Bryzgalova didn’t drop a game against Alexandra Antilla and Jenna Thompson posting a 6-0 victory.
  • Shortly after, the Blue Devil duo of Emma Jackson and Karolina Berankova posted a 6-0 win on court two against Daniella Medvedeva and Sophia Hatton to clinch the doubles point for Duke.
  • Duke was leading, 4-1, on court one when the doubles point was clinched.
  • On court one, 93rd-ranked Jackson was impressive as she posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Cristina Mayorova to put the Blue Devils ahead, 2-0.
  • Shvets, a graduate student out of Pennington, N.J., continued her stellar play on court five as she totaled a 6-2, 6-4 win over Leigh Van Zyl to give the Blue Devils a 3-0 lead.After dropping the first two games of the first set, Shvets won six straight to take the first.Shvets never trailed in the second set.
