Arizona Heads to Jack Kramer Classic

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Arizona sends four Wildcats to the Dennis Rizza Intercollegiate Classic at the Jack Kramer Club in Los Angeles this weekend from Friday, Nov. 1 to Sunday, Nov. 3.

Representing the Cats will be freshmen Oskar Jansson, Matthias Kask, Santiago Padilla-Cote, and sophomore Sasha Rozin.

The Cats were last seen in action at ITA Southwest Regional Championships, where Arizona had nine players compete for a chance to qualify for NCAA’s in November. Wildcat Casper Christensen led the Cats, making a run to the singles quarterfinal of the main draw. Christensen fell in the QF, but two opportunities to qualify still remain on this fall’s schedule.

This weekend will be the last tournament before select Cats will head to ITA Conference Masters and the ITA Sectional Championships. At the Masters Championships (Nov. 7-10), the singles semifinalists and the top three doubles teams will punch their ticket for NCAA’s. The Sectional Championships, also taking place next weekend, will allow for six singles players (semifinalists and two quarterfinalists) and three doubles teams to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Arizona’s Colton Smith and Jay Friend punched their tickets to the singles championships back in September after each making a run to the consolation final of ITA All-Americans. The championships will be held Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
