Alabama Women’s Tennis Falls at No. 6 Georgia


ATHENS, Ga. – The Alabama women’s tennis program (9-5, 2-2 SEC) fell to No. 6 Georgia (12-3, 5-0 SEC), 4-1, at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Thursday afternoon.

The Crimson Tide clinched the doubles point on courts one and three behind efforts from UA pairs No. 58 Anne Marie Hiser and Loudmilla Bencheikh (7-5) and Petra Sedlackova and Anna Parkhomenko (6-4), respectively, to take the early lead heading into singles play. From there, however, the Bulldogs would secure four-straight wins in singles play (courts five, one, three and two) to clinch the match at 4-1.

Alabama’s Sedlackova (0-6, 6-2, 3-6) would take her opponent to three sets on court three, as well as teammate Klara Milicevic on court six, whose match was declared unfinished at a 6-3, 1-6, 2-5 score.

Match at No. 6 Georgia

  • UA pairs Hiser and Bencheikh, as well as Sedlackova and Parkhomenko secured Alabama the doubles point
  • Georgia would claim the 4-1, match-clinching score after securing consecutive singles wins on courts five, one, three and two, respectively
  • Sedlackova went to three sets on court three before falling to Georgia’s Mell Reasco (0-6, 6-2, 3-6)
  • Parkhomenko (4-6, 2-4) and Milicevic (6-3, 1-6, 2-5) trailed on courts four and six, respectively, as the match was secured by Georgia
