Tennessee Tennis Signs Jose Garcia for 2024-25

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Jose Garcia has signed with the Tennessee men’s tennis team and will join the Vols for the 2024-25 season, head coach Chris Woodruff announced Wednesday.

A blue-chip recruit out of Knoxville, Garcia holds a 12.97 Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) and is the top player in the southeast region and the third-ranked player in the 2024 class. Additionally, he’s the highest-rated American to sign with UT since VFL Tennys Sandgren joined the Vols in 2010.

The Tennessee native notched a 22-10 record through various individual tournaments in 2023-24, including an 8-1 mark against five-star recruits and a 4-1 record against top-25 recruits.

“We are thrilled Jose is joining us this summer,” Tennessee associate head coach James McKie said. “He is a fantastic player, but more importantly a great person. To add local talent to our roster means a lot to us. We thank the Garcia family for trusting us in Jose’s future and look forward to watching him grow and develop on and off the court.”
