Four Teams Advance at 2024 ACC Women's Tennis Championships


CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson, Duke, Notre Dame and Miami all advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Championship on Thursday at the Cary Tennis Park.

No. 8 seed Duke swept No. 9 seed Wake Forest, 4-0, while No. 13 seed Clemson battled to a 4-3 upset victory over No. 5 seed Georgia Tech. The Tigers will make their first appearance in the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship since 2017.

No. 6 Miami breezed past No. 11 Virginia Tech, 4-0, before Notre Dame’s Julia Andreach clinched the match in three sets, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-0, on Court 1 to give the No. 7 seeded Fighting Irish a berth into the quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over No. 10 seed Syracuse.

The top four seeds in No. 1 North Carolina, No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 NC State all picked up double byes into the Friday quarterfinals.

It will be an afternoon of rivalries as the quarterfinals start at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with top-seeded North Carolina facing off with in-state rival No. 8 Duke and No. 4 NC State battling No. 13 Clemson. The 6 p.m. quarterfinals feature No. 2 Virginia squaring off against No. 10 Syracuse and No. 3 Florida State battling its in-state rival No. 6 Miami.

Both of the semifinal matches on Saturday along with the championship match on Sunday are slated for 2 p.m.
