WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind – The Wisconsin women’s tennis team swept Purdue, 4-0, to claim its first Big Ten win of the season today, Mar. 9, inside the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Purdue was forced to forfeit its No. 3 doubles team, which gave Wisconsin a 1-0 advantage. Xinyu Cai and Ellison Reynoldson prevailed through their match, posting a 6-4 set to clinch the doubles point.
On the singles court, Purdue forfeit its No. 6 singles position, giving Wisconsin a 2-0 edge. Rosie Garcia Gross breezed through her sets, only allowing her opponent to win two games. Maria Sholokhova closed the match for the Badgers after fighting off a tiebreak in the first set and dominating her opponent in the second, 6-3.
