Trio of Blue Devils Ranked in Latest ITA Ledger

DURHAM – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its latest singles and doubles rankings on Wednesday, which include results from the fall campaign.  Duke’s Chloe Beck led all Blue Devils with a No. 3 ranking, while Emma Jackson and Cameron Morra were No. 22 and No. 28, respectively in singles.

Beck, who hails from Watkinsville, Ga., closed the fall campaign on a very high note by winning the ITA Fall Regionals Main Draw and the ITA Fall Nationals Main Draw Consolation singles titles.  She won nine out of her final 10 singles matches and finished the fall with a 10-3 ledger.  Beck, a 2022 ITA All-American, registered four wins over ranked opponents, including one over No. 2 Sarah Hamner of South Carolina.

Boosted by a win over No. 10 Irina Cantos Siemers, Jackson moved from No. 100 to No. 22 in the rankings following a fall campaign in which she went 5-5 in singles.  She opened her fall season with the 6-4, 7-5 victory over Siemers in the Fall Ranked Spotlight.  Jackson, who is from La Grange Park, Ill., advanced to the ITA Fall Regionals Main Draw final, before falling to Beck.  She also added a three-set victory over 42nd-ranked Ayana Akli of South Carolina, who is now ranked No. 20 nationally.

A product of Rockville, Md., Morra finished the fall with an 8-5 record along with four wins over ranked opponents.  She won four straight matches and advanced to the ITA Fall Regionals Main Draw final, before dropping a very tight three-set match to second-ranked Hamner.  Morra, a three-time ITA All-American, added a win over No. 19 Alexa Noel of Miami and featured a total of three ranked wins in the Fall Ranked Spotlight.

In doubles action, Duke’s duo of Beck and Morra were ranked No. 13 nationally, after registering a 13-3 record in the fall.  They opened the season winners of their first seven matches, including the doubles title at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic.  The Duke duo won four matches each at the ITA All-American and ITA Fall Regionals and advanced to the round of eight at the ITA Fall Nationals.
