SAN DIEGO – The Utah women’s tennis team was back in action on Sunday at the USD Intercollegiate Invitational, while Kaila Barksdale’s second match of the ITA All-American Championships was rained out.
Madison Tattini and Katya Townsend finished their last day at the USD Intercollegiate Invitational.
“I thought we ended the weekend on a high note,” stated associate head coach Melissa Kopinski. “Both girls are on an upward trajectory, and I’m very much looking forward to them continuing on the right path for the ITA Mountain Regionals.”
Tattini went head to head with Iowa player Samantha Mannix and lost, 3-6, 4-6. Townsend also went up against another Iowa opponent, Marisa Schmidt, and clinched a victory as she defeated Schmidt, 7-5. 6-4.
Meanwhile, their teammate, Kaila Barksdale, was rained out in the second match of the ITA All-American Championship. Barksdale will be back in action on Monday in her second-round match against Sally Pethybridge of Portland.
