Alabama Men’s Tennis Wins Five Matches on Day Two of Alabama Four-In-The-Fall

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men’s tennis team went undefeated in singles matches on Saturday as both UA pairs advanced to the next round of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall Tournament at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. 

Enzo Aguiard and Roan Jones earned a 6-4 win in doubles over Mercer’s Nem Stefanovic and Lucas Dini. Both Crimson Tide players also won their respective singles matches. Aguiard recorded a straight set win of 6-2, 6-2 over Stefanovic. Jones continued his hot streak, which began at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, with his fifth-straight singles win. Jones defeated Dini 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 to remain undefeated in his rookie season.

Although Zach Foster and Joao Ferreira fell in doubles to David Mazrahi and Will Mayhew from Louisville, the duo rallied in singles to advance to the next round of the tournament. Foster beat Mazrahi 7-6 (6), 6-4 and Ferreira won against Mayhew 7-6 (5), 0-6, 6-4.

Players compete in the tournament as a doubles pair. Teams advance by winning two of three matches, either from one doubles and two singles matches, played against an opposing pair of players.  

UA will return to action Sunday for the final day of the Alabama Four-In-The-Fall. Matches for the men’s tournament will begin at 10 a.m. CT.

Roan Jones (Alabama) def. Lucas Dini (Mercer) 7-5, 1-6, 7-5
