#8 Women’s Tennis Prepped For Final Regular Season Weekend


RALEIGH – Eighth-ranked NC State women’s tennis (18-4, 8-3 ACC) is ready to host its final regular season dual-match action of the 2022-2023 campaign. On Friday, April 14 at 3 p.m. No. 9 University of Virginia will visit, followed by Virginia Tech on Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m. for senior day.

Last Time Out:

Just a few days ago, NC State took on the defending national championship team the No. 11 Texas Longhorns at home. The match resulted in a 5-2 victory for the Wolfpack three ranked wins in singles for Diana Shnaider, Alana Smith and Amelia Rajecki while doubles play boasted two ranked wins for Shnaider, Smith, Rajecki and Nell Miller.

Rankings Update:

After two top-10 matchups last week, the Wolfpack moved down one spot to eighth in the country due to a loss to No. 1 UNC and No. 6 Duke.

The ITA released updated doubles and singles rankings on April 11th which featured four Wolfpack members in singles and two pairs in doubles. Alana Smith tallied at No. 13 in singles, continuing to hold the highest singles rank out of her teammates. She is followed by Diana Shnaider at No. 15, Amelia Rajecki at No. 25, and Abigail Rencheli at No. 71. In doubles, Shnaider and Smith moved just outside the top-10 at No. 11 while Miller and Rajecki follow directly behind at No. 12.

Late next week, NC State will begin post-season action throughout the ACC Women’s Tennis Tournament in Cary, North Carolina.
