#37 Cassone, McKennon Collect All-Conference Honors


SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sun Devil Men’s Tennis has a pair of All-Conference honorees! No. 37 Murphy Cassone and Max McKennon both earned spots on the Pac-12 All-Conference team, the conference announced today. Cassone landed on the first team, while McKennon picked up second team honors. Jacob Bullard earned an Honorable Mention nod too for receiving votes for the All-Conference team. This is Cassone’s second consecutive first-team honor and the first time McKennon has earned a spot on a conference team.

2022 – Murphy Cassone, first team

 

Murphy Cassone, the 2022 ITA Rookie of the Year, was absolutely dominant in the final weeks of the regular season. Cassone was a perfect 6-0 in April and never lost more than two matches back-to-back during the year. Of his 17 wins, just five went to a third set. He finished the regular season 17-6 (8-2 Pac-12) in singles play, has a 3.2 ITF World Tennis Number, and was selected for the NCAA Singles Championship.

 

Max McKennon went 12-13, earning five victories against Pac-12 opponents, and has a 4.0 ITF World Tennis Number. McKennon and Cassone played doubles together in six matches during the season and went undefeated. The pair never conceded more than two game points in any match.

 

The Sun Devils are preparing for the NCAA Team Tournament which kicks off for them Friday morning in Boston, Mass., against Illinois. Play begins at 8:00 a.m. AZ. Fans can watch the match here and follow along with live scoring here.
