CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After a successful fall season, multiple Tar Heels are set to compete in the 2023 ITA Carolina Regional Championships at Chewning Tennis Center beginning on Thursday.
In total, nine Tar Heels will take part in the tournament. Six Tar Heels (Reese Brantmeier, Abbey Forbes, Carson Tanguilig, Sara McClure, Thea Rabman and Anika Yarlagadda) will play in both the singles and doubles tournament.
Elizabeth Scotty will play in the doubles tournament with NCAA national-runner up teammate Brantmeier. Lindsey Zink will play in the singles tournament.
This weekend, 14 different regional tournaments will take place across the United States with all roads leading to San Diego, California for the 2023 ITA Fall Championships. In Chapel Hill, over 18 teams will compete in the Carolina Regional.
The regional doubles champions and finalists and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships. The ITA National Fall Championships begin on November 1st.
This weekend marks the final time the Tar Heels will take the court in Chapel Hill before the 2024 Indoor season begins.
