Women’s Tennis Match Cancels Due to Weather

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Penn State women’s tennis team’s match against Long Beach State was canceled due to inclement weather today.
 
DOUBLES 
 
The Long Beach State women’s tennis team struck first by taking the doubles point. The team took the matches on courts 1 and 2.
 
Jordina Cegarra and Alina Lebedeva won their match against Paulina Franco and Mathilde Tranberg, 6-2.
 
Yvonne Zuffova and Sofiya Chekhlystova’s fell 7-5 in their match versus Rhona Cook and Peppi Ramstedt.
 
Olivia Dorner and Karly Friedland lost a tough fought match to Doga Akyurek / Hana Becirovic Novak, 7-6. 
 
SINGLES
 
All of the singles matches were underway when the weather took over.
 
Sofiya Chekhlystova grabbed her first set, 6-2, and was tied 1-1 in the second in her match against Rhona Cook.
 
At 2, Olivia Dorner was down 5-3 in the first set versus Peppi Ramstedt.
 
Yvonne Zuffova was up 6-2, 4-1 when her match against Doga Akyurek was paused.
 
At 4, Jordina Cegarra was tied 5-5 in the first set versus Justine Dondonay.
 
Karly Friedland was down in the first set, 5-3, in her match against Sarah Medik.
 
Alina Lebedeva easily won her first set, 6-0, versus Mathilde Tranberg. She was down 3-1 in the second set when the matches were paused.
