Women’s Tennis In Honolulu To Face Memphis And Hawaii


HONOLULU – After a 7-0 home-opening win over Eastern Washington last weekend, the Husky women’s tennis team (1-0) jetted off to Hawaii to play two dual matches in the Aloha State.
 
The Dawgs will face Memphis on Friday, Jan. 19 and Hawaii on Jan. 20 with both matches beginning at 1 p.m. PT/11 a.m. HT at UH Tennis Complex.
 
THE COMPETITION – MEMPHIS AND HAWAII
 
The University of Hawaii hosted Memphis on Jan. 17 for both teams’ opening dual matches of the year. Memphis defeated Hawaii 5-2.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
The Dawgs did not drop a game in the doubles matches that were played out against Eastern Washington on Jan. 13. Alexia Jacobs and Astrid Olsen finished first on doubles, earning Jacobs her first dual match win at home as a Husky.
 
Matsuda handled Eastern’s No. 1 singles today for the Dawgs, rolling to a 6-1, 6-1 finish over Kida.
 
No. 2 singles Jacobs (6-3, 6-1) and No. 5 singles Sarah-Maude Fortin (6-2, 6-0) were the next two to finish helping clinch the match for the Huskies.
 
Dariya Detkovskaya also earned her first singles win as a Husky, defeating her Eastern opponent 6-3, 6-2.
