CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s tennis junior Chris Rodesch has been named the ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Rodesch and grad student Bar Botzer have also been named the ACC Doubles Team of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (Jan. 24) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Rodesch cruised to two straight-set victories on the top court last week, including a 6-2, 6-2 dominant victory against No. 23 Finn Bass of Baylor on Sunday.
Rodesch and Botzer clinched the doubles point in the 4-0 victory against No. 11 Baylor by edging the nation’s third-ranked duo of Bass and Jouan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi 8-6 in a tiebreaker to decide their match on the top court. They also picked up a 6-2 win on Thursday against Liberty’s top doubles team.
This is Rodesch’a third time being named the ACC Player of the Week in his career and his second time earning the doubles honor. This is Botzer’s first weekly honor since joining Virginia last season. These are the Cavaliers’ first weekly honors of the season.
