Virginia and Georgia Tech Earn Men's Tennis Weekly Awards


GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia’s Chris Rodesch was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second week in a row and Georgia Tech’s Andres Martin and Keshav Chopra were selected as the ACC Doubles Team of the Week.

Rodesch won a three set, 6-4, 6-7(4), 10-4, thriller against No. 9 Andres Martin of Georgia Tech in Virginia’s 6-1 win over the Yellow Jackets. It was his third top-10 victory of the season and the second in as many weeks. The 10th-ranked Angelsburg, Luxembourg, native clinched the Cavaliers’ match against Clemson with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win on Court One.

Martin and Chopra opened up their weekend doubles play with a 6-1 win over the No. 20 doubles pairing in the country, Virginia Tech’s Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback, helping the Yellow Jackets edge the Hokies, 4-3. In Georgia Tech’s matchup against No. 7 Virginia, Martin and Chopra were leading the No. 7 ranked duo in the country, Iñaki Montes and William Woodall, 5-3, before the match was declared unfinished.
