NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis hosts a pair of matches at the Lummis Family Tennis Center on Friday. The Commodores face Pepperdine on the outdoor courts at noon and Lipscomb indoors at 6 p.m.

Last weekend, the Dores split their two matches against No. 16 Michigan State and Northwestern. In the first match, Vanderbilt was at a disadvantage after narrowly dropping the doubles point. Despite a valiant effort, they came up short against the Spartans. The next day Vanderbilt rallied, grabbing the early doubles point and posting a 7-0 victory against Northwestern.

In the latest ITA rankings, the Commodores are among the top teams in the nation, sitting at No. 28.

Pepperdine
The Waves are 1-5 this season, and their most recent matchup was this past Sunday against UCLA. After dropping the doubles point, Pepperdine was handed a 4-3 loss by the Bruins; they will be looking for their first win in five matches.

Lipscomb
Lipscomb (3-4) is coming off a loss, having competed this past weekend in Alabama and fallen to Jacksonville State 6-1. The Bisons will also play a doubleheader on Friday, facing UT Southern in the morning before heading to Vanderbilt for the 6 p.m. match.
