Terps Suffer A Heartbreaking Loss To No. 34 Illinois, 4-3

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 56 University of Maryland women’s tennis team (14-6, 3-4 B1G) fell to No. 34 Illinois (15-6, 6-1 B1G) 4-3 at home this Sunday.

The Terps began down 0-1 after dropping the doubles point on courts 1 and 2 with new pairings. The team quickly bounced back with two big wins on the singles courts.

On court 1, Marta Perez Mur won in straight sets with a commanding 6-3 win in the second set. On court 2, Selma Cadar won in the third set after a second set comeback. Kallista Liu kept the momentum with another straight set win on court 4. After loses on courts 6 and 2, the match came down to the victor on court 5. After a 7-4 breaker in the third set against Hannah McColgan, Illinois clinced the win.
