Tennis Defeats Blue Hens, 5-2

Syracuse tennis (4-0) earned its fourth consecutive victory of the season against Delaware (1-1), 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Drumlins Country Club.

The Blue Hens clinched the doubles point with wins the #1 and #2 flights. Adel-Byanu Abidullin and Eliza Askarova topped Miyuka Kimoto and Zeynep Erman, 6-2. Maryia Hrynashka and Alina Vasilenko managed to defeat Polina Kozyreva and Ines Fonte, 6-4. Syracuse’s Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Shiori Ito beat Toni Nelson and Julieta Honrubia, 6-2, in the #3 pairing.

In singles play, the Orange captured all but one match. Zeynep Erman clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Delawares Eliza Askarova in the #2 flight.

SU will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4, as the squad heads to Philadelphia, Pa. to face Drexel. First-serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
