Tech wraps up River City Tennis Open


RICHMOND, Va. – Members of the Virginia Tech men’s tennis team finished up play at the River City Tennis Open this weekend in Richmond, Va.

Alberto Orso and Matt Harper started off the weekend with a doubles match victory on Friday, Oct. 7. Orso’s and Harper’s winning ways continued in singles with each claiming a three-set win.

Manuel Goncalves tallied his second and third singles win of the fall season, picking up both in straight sets. The Porto, Portugal native paired with Frank Thompson produced an 8-7 doubles match victory. Thompson earned both his first doubles and singles win of the fall season, beating William & Mary’s Alexander Karmen 6-3, 6-1.

Orso and Harper earned another doubles match victory to close the weekend, winning 8-4.
