Sabina Machalova Selected for 2022 NCAA Singles Championships


INDIANAPOLIS – Ole Miss women’s tennis senior captain Sabina Machalova received an at-large entry into the NCAA Singles Championships on Tuesday evening. The first round of the tournament begins on May 23 in Champaign-Urbana, IL.
 
Sabina Machalova earned an entry into the NCAA Singles Championships. Machalova, ranked No. 44 in the ITA Singles Rankings, was awarded a spot in the capstone 64-participant event of the spring tennis season.
 
Machalova was voted to All-SEC First Team this season. She has placed on the first team for two consecutive years and also made the second team in 2018. This season Machalova has earned an overall record of 22-12 in singles and 12-7 in dual competitions. She competed in 17 out of 19 dual matches at the No. 1 Singles position. Her 22 singles victories lead all Ole Miss players. She also earned a 10-8 record this year versus nationally-ranked opponents.
 
Machalova ended the 2022 season in great form, earning three consecutive straight-set wins. She won her final two matches versus two ranked players from Vanderbilt, No. 69 Anessa Lee and No. 41 Anna Ross.
 
No stranger to tournament play, Machalova returns to the NCAA Singles Championships for the second consecutive year. She reached the round of 64 in 2021. In 2022, Machalova competed in the ITA All-American Championships and also reached the round of 16 of the ITA Southern Championships.
 
The NCAA Individual Championships are set to begin on May 23 and conclude on May 28 following the conclusion of the NCAA Team Championships. The full 2022 NCAA Women’s Tennis Singles Championships Bracket will be announced at a later date prior to competition.
