NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two Commodores are set to represent Vanderbilt women’s tennis at the NCAA Championships this week in Champaign, Illinois, as Anna Ross and Holly Staff prepare for doubles. The No. 37-ranked duo will face Maria Olivia Castedo and Page Freeman of Notre Dame.
Competition in the NCAA Doubles Championships will commence Tuesday with the Round of 32. It will be the first appearance in the individual tournament for both Ross and Staff.

The Commodore File
Teaming up on Court 1 this spring, Ross and Staff combined for an 8-2 dual record, including two wins over ranked foes. Overall, they went 10-4 this season and are 2-0 in their last three outings.
One of their most notable wins came at then-No. 11 Georgia as the Commodore duo topped the 12th-ranked doubles team of Ania Hertel and Morgan Coppoc, 7-5, late in the regular season.
Scouting the Opponent
The pair in Castedo and Freeman currently rank 15th nationally and own a 10-8 record overall and went 8-7 in dual matches. However, against nationally ranked competition the Irish duo was winless through the regular season with an 0-4 record.

The winners of Tuesday’s match will advance to the Sweet 16 the following day. The tennis season ultimately concludes Saturday with the doubles final.
