Emma Raducanu has tabbed a familiar face for her coaching corner.

The 2021 US Open champion Raducanu has reunited with childhood coach Nick Cavaday, who will coach her for the Australian Open and perhaps beyond, the BBC’s Russell Fuller reports.

The 21-year-old Briton and coach Cavaday worked together during a two-hour practice at the Australian Open on Monday.

Raducanu is practicing for her Melbourne return exhibition match vs. former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka at Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday night.

Former world No. 10 Raducanu, who underwent ankle surgery and surgeries to both wrists last May, eyes a competitive comeback in 2024. Raducanu, who celebrated her 21st birthday on November 13th, wrapped an injury-plagued 2023 season posting a 5-5 record as her ranking has slipped to No. 299.

Still, Raducanu won her long-awaited comeback back in Auckland last week defeating qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse in three sets and then nearly knocked off Wimbledon semifinalist Elina Svitolina before falling in three sets. Svitolina went on to reach the Auckland final.

Raducanu will play the Australian Open, which starts on January 14th, on a protected ranking after both Petra Kvitova and Lauren Davis withdrew.
