Pac-12 Play Opens With Third Straight Shutout


STANFORD, Calif. – No. 30 Stanford blanked No. 52 Oregon 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.

The Cardinal (9-4, 1-0 Pac-12) produced its third straight shutout and remained unbeaten in eight home matches.

Commanding victories at the top two spots resulted in Stanford claiming the doubles point for a 1-0 lead.

Samir Banerjee (6-2, 6-4) and Kyle Kang (6-2, 6-4) followed with straight-set wins to put the Cardinal on the brink of clinching.

Kyle Kang made it official, delivering a 6-2, 6-4 triumph on court four as Stanford defeated Oregon for the seventh time in nine attempts.

Stanford returns to action on Saturday, March 16, against No. 74 Washington at 1 p.m.
