TULSA, Okla.- Ole Miss men’s tennis finished up singles qualifying play at the 2023 All-American Championships on Tuesday with showings from seniors Lukas Engelhardt and John Hallquist Lithen.
On Monday, Lithen, the No. 77 ITA ranked senior, started off by defeating Baylor’s Marko Miladinovic, 6-2, 6-2, and secured the sixth win on the week for the Rebels. The next day, Lithen faced Indiana’s Sam Landau, but ultimately fell short losing, 6-3, 6-0, concluding his time in Tulsa.
Engelhardt had a challenging draw from the start and battled two ITA preseason ranked opponents. On Monday, the Augsburg, Germany, native played No. 114 Zsombor Velcz from Baylor losing 6-1, 6-3. In the consolation bracket, Engelhardt faced the 95th-ranked Alex Kotzen from Columbia, but dropped the close matchup, 6-4, 6-2.
The eighth ranked duo of Engelhardt and Nikola Slavic will compete in the main draw for doubles starting tomorrow. The Stockholm, Sweden, native, Slavic, will also play in the main draw for singles throughout the week.
